Welcome to the very first drop of Real Talk From The Grow Tent. This is your space for real, one-on-one grow guidance—no fluff, just knowledge from growers who’ve been in the tent and want to help you succeed.
Today, we’re starting with something a lot of new growers overlook: seed storage.
Because here’s the deal—good genetics are an investment. Whether you grabbed a few packs from Kinnabis or stocked up on a rare strain, how you store those seeds decides if they’ll pop strong roots or just die in the dirt.
👉 Here’s the Real Talk:
- Cool, Dark, and Dry
Seeds hate heat, light, and moisture. Keep them in a dark place (like a drawer or a box) at a stable, cool temp—around 40–50°F if possible. Too warm and they’ll age fast. Too wet and you’ll be dealing with mold. - The Fridge Trick
Want to keep seeds viable for years? Store them in the fridge. Put them in an airtight container with a silica gel packet (to fight moisture). Just don’t put them in the freezer—deep freezing can rupture the cells inside and ruin viability. - Let Them Warm Up Before Germination
If you store seeds in the fridge, don’t pull them straight into your germination setup. Let them come back to room temp first to avoid condensation forming on the seed shell. That little detail saves a lot of headaches.
💡 Grower Tip: Properly stored seeds can last 5+ years with strong germ rates. Mishandled seeds? You might be lucky to get 6 months. Treat them right and your genetics will always be ready when you are.
That’s your first dose of Real Talk From The Grow Tent. Take care of your seeds like they’re gold—because in this grow game, they are.
Stay tuned next week, when we’ll cover the easiest way to guarantee germination success. 🌱
